Bieda Praises Precedence Setting Court Ruling

State Senator Steve Bieda praised a judge's ruling yesterday that granted a father communication rights so he can begin rebuilding his relationship with his biological daughter, a situation that was made possible due to legislation that Senator Bieda sponsored. The new law allows a possible biological father to file a petition to determine paternity under certain circumstances. Prior to these laws being enacted, state law did not give a possible biological father legal standing to file a paternity action to show he may be the biological father of a child born to a married woman.
